Leuphana University Lüneburg was recognized for its achievements by the German Sustainability Award — Europe’s leading award for ecological and social engagement. The University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC) Lüneburg program’s host university is one of 100 organizations recognized as “pioneers of transformation.” Nearly 5,000 companies were evaluated by several juries of stakeholders across politics, business, research, and civil society sectors.
The award raises Leuphana’s status as a role model for other educational institutions for its transdisciplinary approach to sustainability in business and society. The university first established its degree in environmental sciences as far back as the early 1990s.
“Today, we can reap the rewards of many years of work and development as a sustainable university in research, teaching and university operations,” said Vice President Christian Brei.
