We love hearing about the many ways you can position yourself academically and professionally beyond your time with USAC! Here’s a great alumni happening from Debbie on where she’s off to next since studying abroad with us in Alicante, Spain.
I’m at the University of Oxford reading a MSc in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition, with an eye to starting doctoral study in the near future. My course is intensive and challenging, but very relevant to my life as a language learner and my career as a language teacher. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to live and study in a place of such history and prestige.
My experience with USAC was an important stepping stone to making it to Oxford. I didn’t have these plans then, but the courses I took there really filled in the missing pieces with my Spanish language skills, and my teaching job at the Tourism Centre gave me a lot more confidence. I miss that city dearly, but I have definitely landed on my feet here at Oxford, and I have USAC (Luis, Veronica, Sylvain, and all my coursemates) to thank for being a part of my journey to postgraduate study.
Best,
Debbie
