Capture and Share Your Study Abroad Memories for the chance to WIN!

Introducing USAC’s Share Your Study Abroad Challenge, a content-driven contest where you and your cohort can compete against other USAC programs to create the most fun, unique, informative, and engaging video content.

Documenting study abroad is a mustWe know you phones are going to be filled with videos from your time abroad, and you’ll post the best of the best on social media, so why not share them with USAC for the chance to win prizes?

How To Participate

Step 1: Start Filming

Create your very own video content, including:

  • Instagram Reels
  • TikToks
  • Raw video footage

You can showcase famous landmarks by doing trending dances around your host city, challenge your cohort to a game of USAC trivia, capture vlog-style footage of a day in your life abroad… The possibilities are endless! Just get creative, showcase your unique study abroad adventure, and have fun.

Step 2: Submit Your Content

Share your content by tagging @studyabroadusac and #shareyourstudyabroad on TikTok or Instagram Reels or by emailing your footage to

Step 3: Keep It Rolling

The more video content you and your cohort share with USAC, the better your chance of winning our grand prize.

Contest Details

The deadline to submit your content is April 1, 2022.

Submissions will be awarded points according to the following system:

  • 15 points per useable video submission
  • 20 points per Instagram Reel tag/hashtag
  • 29 points per TikTok tag/hashtag
  • 50 points for the most entertaining video
  • 50 points for the most informative video
  • 50 points for the most creative video
  • 50 points for the best edited video
  • 100 points for the best overall video
  • 125 points for any viral video (5k+ views)
  • 10 bonus points for each personal account post with ##shareyourstudyabroad and @studyabroadusac

What You Can Win

The winner of the Share Your Study Abroad Challenge will win a cultural experience to be enjoyed with your USAC cohort in your host country. Examples include: tickets to the local theater, a party complete with traditional dishes, or a movie night featuring a popular local film.

Prize offerings are subject to change at the time of awarding based on COVID-19 or program location restrictions.

Contest Rules and Guidelines

This video contest is open to all students who are participating in a Spring 2022 USAC study abroad program.

Videos must be submitted via email to and/or shared via social media by tagging @studyabroadusac and #shareyourstudyabroad. All entries must be submitted by April 1, 2022.

Participants must adhere to the following submission requirements for consideration:

  • If submitting by email:
    • Name each file with SYSA, your name, and your program city. [i.e. SYSA_JohnDoe_Valencia]
    • Include a brief description of each video (where you are, what you are doing, who you are with, etc.) When adding your description, please list the file name first, followed by the description. [i.e. SYSA_JohnDoe_Valencia: Myself and my classmate, Jane Doe, volunteering at a local school inValencia, Spain.]
    • Ensure all submitted Videos are their original file size. (It is okay to send multiple emails until you reach your full 25 submissions.)
  • If submitting by social media:
    • The account which your content is being shared on must be set to public. Otherwise we cannot see your tags and will not be able to count your submission(s).
  • Resolution and format: We prefer videos in .mp4 format. Videos must be high-quality (footage must not be shaky and should be free of any unnecessary background noise).
  • Videos containing alcohol, illegal or dangerous behavior, behavior in conflict with the insurance contract, or anything that may be deemed as inappropriate, will be disqualified.
  • Original Work: Submitted videos must be original material taken by the contest entrant. By entering this contest, participants acknowledge that the submitted video(s) is/are original works created solely by the entrant and that no other party has any claim to the submitted videography. Videos previously submitted to USAC as part of another contest are not eligible for resubmission under this competition.
  • There is no limit on the number of submissions a participant can submit.
  • USAC Employees and Interns: Employees and interns can enter the contest, however, no projects previously submitted to USAC can be submitted to this contest.
  • Content filmed as an assignment for the Digital Documenter Program cannot be entered in the Share Your Adventure Video Contest.
  • Copyright and Usage: Students retain the copyright to their videos. By entering the contest, students agree that:
    • Entries (including non-winning entries) may be edited and/or selected for display or use on USAC web pages, social media channels, and promotional materials, without fee, compensation, or acknowledgement;
    • USAC may display winning videos on their website and/or on the UNR study abroad webpage;
    • USAC may retain copies of the videos for archival and promotional purposes.
