Orion Little, a student studying international studies, global health studies, and Spanish at the University of Iowa (UI), was no stranger to international traveling. However, he moved out of his comfort zone by attending a study abroad program in the non-English speaking region of Latin America while trying to sort out what life had in store after graduation.
He chose the less-commonly known region of Uruguay, where University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC) hosts the USAC Montevideo program. The region is a crossroads of a diverse range of ethnicities, often mirroring his white and indigenous heritage. By leveraging the funding from the Global Access Ambassador Scholarship (formerly Diversity Ambassador), he saw first-hand a parallel world where representation is questioned just as he was used to in North America.
