Where will you go?
How about: Stellenbosch, South Africa?
We are happy to announce a new USAC program in South Africa, where you can explore the rich history and dynamic future of one of the most diverse countries in the world.
Home of 11 official languages, eight UNESCO sites, the greatest variety of wildlife species in the world, the third highest level of biodiversity, and the convergence of two oceans, South Africa is not for the dull. Twenty years after founding their democracy, South Africa is still stabilizing and growing culturally, and yet is a technological and economic leader.
Stellenbosch, just an hour outside of Cape Town, will give you an immediate sense of modernity and history. In the heart of the Winelands, the city is famous for its location on the longest wine route in the world and its iconic oak-lined streets. While the city remains timeless, Stellenbosch University sees the importance of growth and innovation, offering a wide variety of courses and activities for all students and embracing multiculturalism. USAC students can design their own academic plan and participate in the Voluntarism and Community Engagement (VCE) program or join the International Student Organization (ISOS).
So find yourself where the country’s vibrant past and future meet and work to understand that unique cultural and political history.Throw yourself into the local community and the university’s new traditions. Lose yourself in South Africa’s diverse natural habitats, or simply under an oak tree on your walk through town. Ask yourself, “Why not?” and “What’s next?”
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” What better place is there to start?
Find yourself in Stellenbosch. Throw yourself into a changing world. Lose yourself in South Africa’s diverse cultures.
Apply today. Deadline: February 15
