“I think they are the most brilliant thing in the history of ever!”
– Jennifer P., Study Abroad Advisor and Program Assistant, Office of International Studies
Students deciding where to study abroad now have a new interactive tool on the USAC website to make more informed program and budgeting choices.
USAC is excited to announce the launch of our interactive, on-line budget sheets. Rather than having static budget sheets that assume students will participate in all of the optional components, these new and improved budget sheets will allow students to customize the form with the expenses that apply to their individual preferences and needs. The fixed expenses like program fees will be automatically filled out to start the budget sheets but any optional expenses, or those that have a range, will allow the students to make their own selections to get a budget sheet customized just for them.
One of USAC’s top priorities as a non-profit consortium of universities is to provide high quality, affordable, accessible programs. Built into our educational mission is the belief that an international, cross-cultural educational experience is not just a luxury or extravagance. Rather, it is a key component of a college education in the 21st century. And we put our money where our mouth is with modest fees so that as many people as possible can afford this important academic experience.
In addition to modest program fees, USAC puts as much choice, options, flexibility, and control in the hands of students as they select a program. These interactive budget sheets will be an important tool in helping students be able to make informed financial choices as they select a program with a more in-depth understanding of the overall cost to them.
The majority of the interactive budget sheets are already available on USAC’s website under the “Fees & Deadlines” section for each program. They can also be viewed on each student’s individual USAC Student Gateway account. We hope that these will be a great advising tool and will help students to engage deeper in the process.
