Ryan advises for the Australia, Brazil, Chile, Ghana, New Zealand and Uruguay programs
I am born and raised in Nevada, and share dual citizenship between the United States and Switzerland. I studied abroad in Torino, Italy and I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and a minor in Italian Studies. I am an avid runner and am an ambassador for lululemon, Agua Brands, and Rowdy Bars.
Where did you study abroad?
I was lucky enough to have studied abroad in Torino, Italy. I went during the Spring semester, so I was able to going skiing in the Alps, go to Carnival, and meet locals around Torino.
If you could go on any USAC program, what would it be?
It is a toss up between our two USAC programs in Florianópolis and Santiago. Both programs are different than my time in Europe and offer a new experience with a culture, language, and lifestyle.
What is your funniest travel memory?
Since I studied on a Spring term, it was winter when I arrived. Unfortunately, the pipes froze in the apartment I was living in, so my roommates and I had to boil hot water in order to take a “shower”. We did hot water down the road, but the first month was definitely a race to see who could shower the quickest.
What is a weird fact about you?
In 2011, I went out for a run in Carson City and was chased by a mountain lion and lived to tell the tale. Google: Carson City, Nevada, mountain lion, runner.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to cook and exercise. The cooking aspect is great to try different foods and be able to tailor a dish to my liking. I exercise to keep myself relaxed and ready to tackle the challenges ahead.
