#LearnWithoutBorders – The Photo Contest

Do you know what it means to #LearnWithoutBorders?

Can you capture the essence of your host city? Did you volunteer or participate in an internship? Were you able to understand the culture and the language with the help of your host family, language partner or local buddy? Where did you show your school spirit? Can you show us what it looks like to #LearnWithoutBorders?

How to Enter

Submit up to 5 photos in each of the following categories by September 10, 2018:

One winner will be selected from each category. Those five winners will be ranked and receive the following prizes:

• 5th Place: $50 Uber or Lyft Gift Card (winner’s preference)
• 4th Place: $50 Uber or Lyft Gift Card (winner’s preference)
• 3rd Place: $75 Airbnb Gift Card
• 2nd Place: $100 Airbnb Gift Card
• 1st Place Grand Prize: $300 Frosch Travel Voucher

Submission Deadline: September 10, 2018

Winners will be announced on September 30, 2018.

Contest Rules and Guidelines

This photo contest is open to all students and alumni who have participated in a USAC study abroad program.

Photos may also be submitted via email to contests@usac.edu by September 10, 2018.

Participants must adhere to the following submission requirements for consideration:

• Please name each file with a brief description of the photo, followed by the locations and your last name, first initial in parenthesis [i.e. Volunteering_Accra (SmithJ)]
• Please include a brief description of each photo (where you are, what you are doing, who you are with, etc.) When adding your description, please list the file name first, followed by the description [i.e. Volunteering_ Accra (SmithJ): Myself and my classmate, Jane Doe, volunteering at a local school in Accra, Ghana during our Fall 2016 semester abroad.]
• Ensure all submitted photos are their original file size. (If submitting via email, it is okay to send multiple emails until you reach your full 25 submissions.)
• Resolution and Format: We prefer high-quality photos (min 300 dpi) and submitted electronically in JPEG, TIFF, or RAW format.
• Limits on Submission: Participants may submit a maximum of 5 photographs per category, totaling a maximum of 25 photographs.
• Photos containing alcohol, illegal or dangerous behavior, behavior in conflict with the insurance contract, or anything that may be deemed as inappropriate, will be disqualified.
• Original Work: Submitted photographs must be original material taken by the contest entrant. By entering this contest, participants acknowledge that the submitted photo(s) is/are original works created solely by the entrant and that no other party has any claim to the submitted photography. Photos previously submitted to USAC as part of another contest are not eligible for resubmission under this competition.
• USAC Employees and Interns: Employees and interns can enter the contest, however, no projects previously submitted to USAC can be submitted to this contest.
• Copyright and Usage: Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. By entering the contest, photographers agree that:
  • Entries (including non-winning entries) may be edited and/or selected for display or use on USAC web pages and promotional materials, without fee, compensation, or acknowledgement;
  • USAC may display winning photos on their website and/or on the UNR study abroad webpage;
  • USAC may retain copies of the photograph for archival and promotional purposes.
