If you’ve talked to anyone who has studied abroad in Madrid, Spain you know there is no shortage of things to do, classes to take, and places to experience.
One of the biggest draws to Madrid is its central location and easily accessible transportation to anywhere in Spain.
At USAC, we want you to fully experience the country you’re studying abroad in, and earn college credit while doing it, which is why we organize a variety of field trips and field studies. The difference between a field trip and a field study is that a field study is for credit, so you must be enrolled in the course in order to attend the trip. But who is complaining about getting to earn college credit for traveling? Not us!
One of the most popular field studies for USAC Madrid students is the trip to the Basque Country.
This four-day field study visits some of the most important sites of this area of northern Spain with its varied landscape and profound regional identity. Cities visited include the home of two other USAC programs: Bilbao, home of the striking Guggenheim Museum, and San Sebastián, famous for its beaches, scenery, and gastronomy. You also get to experience a gastronomic workshop; how to make “talos” (traditional Basque pancakes), dinner in a Gastronomic society, music workshops, and the traditional Basque sporting event jai-alai. USAC encourages students to register for this field study. You will sign up for the field study on your Course Registration Form.
Here’s a look at the great adventure this field study will take you on.
