Visit Kasbah des Oudaias and the Andalusian Gardens
Kasbah des Oudaias is a 12th-century fortress offering stunning views of the ocean and the neighboring city of Salé. The whitewashed walls with blue accents make it a picturesque location, perfect for discovering your home abroad.
Head to the Andalusian Gardens next, which are hidden within the kasbah and are a great place to escape the heat of the city. Relax under the shade of palm trees, listen to water bubbling in fountains, and admire the lovely flowers and traditional architecture.
Enjoy views of the Atlantic Ocean from Rabat Beach and the corniche
Whether you want to go for a jog on the sand or relax under an umbrella, Rabat Beach is the place for you. You can enjoy coastal views, watch surfers hit the waves, or just enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
For a change of pace, head to the corniche, or oceanside promenade. It’s great at any time of day but is especially beautiful at sunset.
Enjoy Rabat’s street art
You’ll discover incredible murals throughout the city, with larger artwork overtaking entire buildings and smaller works decorating alley walls. The art has been created by both local and international artists and features a variety of styles. From brightly colored modern art to realistic black and white paintings, this artwork turns a normal walk through the city into a rich experience.
Have an introspective experience at Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V
Hassan Tower is a red sandstone minaret that stands alone, the only reminder of a mosque that was never completed. Rising 144 feet, the tower is both iconic and awe-inspiring.
Right across from the tower is the royal tomb of Mohammed V and his two sons. Inside, the mausoleum is intricately designed — it’s impossible not to marvel at the stunning craftsmanship.
Explore the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art on Wednesdays and Fridays
The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMVI) has free entry on Wednesdays and Fridays for students. Get out of the heat for a bit and enjoy wandering through the art exhibits, featuring both Moroccan and international contemporary art.
Take a stroll through Nouzhat Hassan Garden
Located in the heart of Rabat between the old and new areas of town, Nouzhat Hassan Garden is a beautiful public green space. It’s perfect for taking a walk, sharing a picnic with friends, or enjoying nature — imagine doing your homework under the shade of a century-old tree!
Bonus: USAC field trips
USAC organizes field trips for Rabat students, which are included in your program fee at no extra cost to you. Rabat students will have the opportunity to participate in at least two full-day field trips, local outings built into classes and activities, and optional cooking workshops where you can create local cuisine with your new friends.
