We just received a fun update from our Shanghai, China — Resident Director, You Sha.
Hi all,
Here are some photos from the International Culture Festival in Shanghai University. This is an annual event held by the university as an integral part of its art festival. The theme of the event this year is “Food”, “Games” and “Culture”. USAC students (American, Swedish, Norwegian and Senegali students) participated and represented America. The background of the booth in one of the photos was drawn by Devon Nako (Creighton Univ.) and Emily Jitsumasa (UNLV). It captured the highlights of America: Disney Land, Mount Rushmore, etc. Andrea Bowen (Michigan Tech.) made blueberry pancakes and scrambled eggs; Aminata Dieng (Chatham Univ.) made Senegali food. Kala Weaver (Boise State Univ.) dressed in white, blue and red and showed us the colors of America.
Most excitingly, Devon Aimes and David Mantelman (Colorado State Univ.) together with Jasmine Mackey (Clemson Univ.), Emily Jitsumasa, Devon Nako, Hannah Karlsson (Linnaeus Univ., Sweden), Anne Marie Garmanslund (Univ of Olso) and Kailynn Hennessy (Univ of the Pacific) presented us a fun dance, which drew the biggest crowds that day, and eventually won the American Booth a third-place prize in the festival.
You Sha
