Financing study abroad, the not-so-fun topic, but let’s face it, you can avoid looking into it or you can prepare for it…Choose to prepare for it, trust me. You’ll be happier with the extra cash you have to explore.
Here are four unique ways you can get extra money for your adventures abroad.
- Have you heard of the app Ibotta? Ibotta allows you to earn cash back on grocery and various retailers like Uber and Groupon. You then can withdraw the money to Paypal, Venmo or a gift card! If you are interested in downloading this, enter my referral code (hvpyrlv) as a promo code in the account section and you’ll get $10 in savings after your first submission! This may not sound like much, but hey the little things add up and you’re already getting groceries anyway, so might as well get cash back for it.
- The second money saving secret I use is Ebates. If you are an online shopper then you better get on Ebates! Ebates has over 2,000 online retailers where you can have access to coupons and earn a percentage of cash back based on your total bill. Interested in using Ebates? Follow this link to get a $10 welcome bonus after your first purchase. https://www.ebates.com/r/KATIEA1999?eeid=28187
- Honey! Another online shopping saving tool. You can install the extension on your desktop and it will automatically collect every discount code that exists for that store in one place. Honey will show you all the discounts available and how many people have used them. Even better, Honey automatically applies the discount codes to your purchase. - Fundraise! There are so many ways to fundraise. Get creative. For example, you can sell bracelets. Have you heard of Mudlove? Mudlove is a ceramics studio focused on giving back. With each product purchased, you provide 1 week of clean water to someone in need. They have a variety fundraising options tailored to what best fits in your life. There are plenty of opportunities out there, just get creative! Lastly, when you are asking friends and family to invest in you make sure to personalize each message. A giant post on Facebook may give you some extra cash, but you will have more success if you individually ask each special person within your life.
There you have it! It’s easy to start saving. I hope these money saving secrets help give you some extra cash to make your study abroad experience an experience of a lifetime.
